FBI Confirms More Explosive Devices Sent to High Profile Democrats

October 25, 2018 A suspicious package addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden was intercepted early Thursday morning at a Delaware mail facility. Another explosive device addressed to actor Robert De Niro was found at the actor’s Tribeca restaurant.

The FBI is investigating the package addressed to Biden intercepted at a postal service facility in Delaware. Law enforcement officials described the package as similar to other packages containing bombs.

The FBI warned that other packages could have been sent to other locations after two more devices addressed to Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California were intercepted on Wednesday. The FBI is asking people to remain vigilant and avoid touching, moving or handling suspicious packages.

New York City mayor Bill De Blasio said during a press conference on Wednesday that pipe bombs addressed to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and CNN in New York City are clearly acts of terror attempting to undermine our free press and leaders of this country through acts of violence. Some lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agreed. John Miller, the New York police deputy commissioner of intelligence and counter-terrorism, said his office was notified by the Secret Service that the packages sent to Clinton and Obama were “nearly identical.”

Some top Democrats are calling the attempted attacks a symptom of a coarsening brand of political rhetoric promoted by President Donald Trump. Trump condemned the threats on Wednesday afternoon calling for the country to unify.

“We have to come together and send one very clear, strong and unmistakable message that acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America” Trump said.

However, the Associated Press reports that last night at a rally in Wisconsin, President Trump blamed the media and others for incivility, even as he refrained from acknowledging his own inflammatory rhetoric.
